Nigeria as a nation is blessed with so much raw talent in sports which in many cases has been remained untapped. Chess has become such a popular sports in Niegrian even if we don't have the best facilities or tournaments to enhance those talents, Chess players have had to grow and develop their talent on the foundation of self-development . Yet in a sport that has lacked the necessary government backing and sponsorship that is required to put our beloved nation in the fore-front of the most exciting game on the planet, every player has had to fight and overcame the obstacles and challenges in order to become the chess player they are today.

 

I am proud to be a Nigerian, and of many of the outstanding individuals who have or are still flying the flag of the nation both home and abroad, in all local and international leagues and tournaments.
